The Le'Nalors News of The Week - NFLPA Calls For Ban On Artificial Surfaces In All Stadiums After Aaron Rodgers Injury

A bar in Milwaukee offered free drinks to its patrons if the Jets lost an Aaron Rodgers start.

The NFLPA has urged the league to impose a ban on artificial turf at NFL stadiums. This comes after the season-ending injury suffered by Aaron Rodgers during Monday Night Football. Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon on just the fourth play of his Jets debut during a rain-soaked game at MetLife Stadium. MetLife installed a new field surface earlier this year. However, Rodgers' injury is being blamed on the way that artificial surfaces react to wet conditions. The sentiment has been echoed by many players around the league.

"Moving all stadium fields to high quality natural grass surfaces is the easiest decision the NFL can make. The players overwhelmingly prefer it and the data is clear that grass is simply safer than artificial turf. It is an issue that has been near the top of the players' list during my team visits and one I have raised with the NFL," NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell said. The call for change comes after an NFLPA report released earlier this year showed that non-contact injuries occur at a higher rate on artificial surfaces.

As for the Jets themselves, the path forward is unclear now that Rodgers is done for the season. Zach Wilson was largely bailed out by sloppy play from the Bills and the Jets' great defense. While Wilson remains the starter for now, it's far from an ideal solution. However, the bigger problem for the Jets is that the QB market is all but dead right now. No one will trade a viable starter in week two. Furthermore, most of the people still available are free agents for a reason.

Despite this, it hasn't stopped a wave of speculation from occurring. This is especially as the Jets will likely sign a third QB to the roster. Wilson's former backup Joe Flacco is one widely spread name, as is journeyman Carson Wentz. Meanwhile, more outside-the-box theories such as Tom Brady and Colin Kaepernick have also been floated. However, it's likely going to be a bad time for the next few weeks. Next on the schedule for the Jets are the Cowboys. Dallas comes off a 40-0 win against the Giants in week one.

The Le'Nalors News of The Week - Soulja Boy Says 2023 VMAs Were “Wack”

Soulja Boy says that he wasn’t impressed by the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. Taking to Twitter on Wednesday morning, he asked where Travis Scott, Drake, Beyonce, JAY-Z, and more stars were during the night. He also shared a fan's post about him not being invited to perform.

Music game Fucked up let the real ones shine,” while retweeting a fan’s post that reads: “Wack without you Draco! All this folks copied you style all day long. I'm hurt.”

The Le'Nalors News of The Week - What Lionel Messi's Inter Miami needs to qualify for MLS play-offs

The Herons currently have two games in hand on ninth-place D.C. United, who are eight points ahead. If Inter Miami wins these two games in hand, they could potentially close the gap to just two points, making their journey to the playoffs more feasible. This context adds another layer of excitement and possibility to the team's aspirations.

Despite the excitement surrounding Messi's arrival and a string of positive results, Inter Miami has quite the mountain to climb to reach the MLS playoffs. The team will have to average around two points per game in the remaining fixtures and will need to do this while missing key players during international breaks. While the task is daunting, the recent performance suggests that it is not entirely out of reach. Herons fans will certainly be watching with bated breath.

The Le'Nalors News of The Week - Deadpool 3 Release Date In Doubt After Disney Update

 Deadpool 3

Disney's updated release timetable for the next several months sparks fears about Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool 3 being delayed.

Deadpool 3 may be delayed based on Disney's updated release schedule. Directed by Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds' third installment in the Deadpool sub-franchise is exciting for several reasons. Deadpool 3 will mark Marvel Studios' first full crack at the character, who was previously under the Fox/Marvel banner. The threequel will also see the return of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, as well as Jennifer Garner's Elektra. Unfortunately, it seems like fans will have to wait a bit longer for it.

Disney (via The Direct) has released an updated movie schedule for the next several months, and Deadpool 3 is nowhere on the list. The threequel is supposed to take Marvel Studios' premier May slot, which is usually reserved for the Avengers and other big team-up films in the MCU. Nia DaCosta's The Marvels, however, maintains its November 2023 premiere. Check out the full list below:

The Le'Nalors News of The Week - Dallas Austin, Jermaine Dupri Honor Atlanta’s Impact On Hip-Hop 50 With New Pop-Up Exhibit

Atlanta’s impact on hip-hop will always remain undeniable. Within the genre’s 50 years of existence, the city of Atlanta has led the sound and cultural movement of hip-hop for over 20 years.

To celebrate Atlanta’s legacy, Dallas Austin and Jermaine Dupri teamed up to create the “Atlanta Hip-Hop 50th Experience” at Underground Atlanta.

The walls of the exhibit feature images of top Atlanta rap acts such as OutKast, Goodie Mob, T.I., Gucci Mane, Jeezy, Future, Migos, and more.

There’s a tribute to women of Atlanta rap such as Latto and Rasheeda. There’s also a timeline that showcases the very start of Atlanta rap with Mojo, the city’s first rapper who became prominent in 1982.

ADW spoke to Austin who shed light on the pop-up exhibit and Atlanta’s role in hip-hop.

“What was crazy that we didn’t know any better,” Austin said, speaking on the initial rise of Atlanta’s hip-hop movement in the 1990s. “We just wanted to have music that we could play in the car and go dress fly at Lenox Mall…But the city really began to hit right around 2001. That’s when Atlanta was probably starting to find its base a lot faster than every other city in terms of hip-hop. A lot of the artists and producers in Atlanta began calling each other studios and doing stuff without the managers. We all worked together and Atlanta eventually became the dominant sound in hip-hop.”

The Atlanta 50th Hip Hop Experience showcases the rich cultural impact in Atlanta, and will also feature numerous events, including artist Q&A sessions, celebrity podcasts, music-related fireside chats, and industry seminars.

Additionally, lounge and DJ events will be held, showcasing a state-of-the-art sound system and LED screen hosting exclusive Atlanta Hip Hop label takeover nights. The experience will also be available for private events and corporate parties, as the venue also has a liquor license.

The pop-up will continue until Oct. 27.
