The Le'Nalors Event Update - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Deerfield Beach

oin the City of Deerfield Beach along with city leaders, civic organizations and churches, as we pay homage to this great Civil Rights leader. This four day long event features a weekend carnival, games and live entertainment, before drawing to a close on Monday with a two mile long parade and awards ceremony.

Church Choir Competition Information

On Sunday, January 14th from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM the 2nd Annual Choir Competition will be held. Each entered choir will have 15 minutes to perform their best songs. At the end, the judges will decide who gets to go home with the traveling trophy along with $500! (Limited to 10 entries, first come, first serve basis. Choir groups must be affiliated with a church.) The winning choir must be available to sing “Life Every Voice and Sing” at the ceremony on Monday, January 15th at 12:00 PM.

Carnival Information

Tickets: $1/ticket or $20 all rides wristband/day (Tickets available for purchase on site at box office during carnival hours.)

Complimentary Shuttle Service


Parking will be available at the Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex (formerly known as Westside Park-445 SW 2nd Street) for the carnival. Shuttle service will be provided for walkers in the parade from the Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex (445 SW 2nd St.) to the Cove Shopping Center (1580 SE 3rd Ct.) starting at 8:00 AM. The last shuttle for participants will be at 8:30 AM. If you arrive after 8:30 AM you will need to drive to the Cove Shopping Center as there will no longer be transportation provided prior to the parade start. Shuttle service will be provided back to the Cove Shopping Center (1580 SE 3rd Ct.) from the Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex (445 SW 2nd St.) following the conclusion of the parade until 2:00 PM, or when the ceremony concludes.

Parade Road Closures

Hillsboro Blvd will be closed from A1A to SW Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave.
Dixie Hwy will be closed north and south bound at Hillsboro Blvd.
Federal Hwy will be closed north and south bound at Hillsboro Blvd.
SW Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave will be closed from Hillsboro Blvd. to SW 2nd St.

Detour Routes

SR 810 (Hillsboro Blvd) traffic east of the Cove Shopping Center will be rerouted to A1A.
Northbound Federal Hwy and Dixie Hwy. traffic will be rerouted to SW Natura Blvd by way of SE 10th St.
Southbound Federal Hwy and Dixie Hwy traffic will be rerouted to SW Natura Blvd via SE 2nd St. to Hillsboro Blvd.
Northbound A1A traffic will be rerouted to Camino Real in Boca Raton
Southbound A1A traffic will be rerouted to SW 14th St in Pompano Beach

Road closures will begin at 9:00 AM and roads will re-open once approval is received from BSO Law Enforcement.
