 Birdman Conned Out Of $5.4 Million In Oil Scam

Birdman and his brother Slim were reportedly victims of a wicked con. It took the FBI 10 years to find the perpetrator, and they interviewed the two executives in their pursuit.

Kevin Edmundson, then a lawyer for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, said the person behind the scam is Mark Roy Anderson.

According to the Daily Beast, Anderson is alleged to have stolen $1 million from a Dallas real estate broker and other investors. As a result, Anderson was slapped with a civil suit that he evaded. A criminal investigation was also launched, and Anderson was convicted and issued a $130,000 judgment.

The oil scam that got the Cash Money executive mixed up happened between March 2006 and November 2010. In total, 20 people were impacted. In 2011, the FBI brought Birdman in for an interview, listing him in paperwork as “B.W.” 

As stated in the interview, Birdman said he and Slim formed an oil and gas exploration company with Anderson called BRONALD Oil and Gas.

After meeting with Anderson, Birdman wired him $5.4 million between April and September 2008. He also met with Anderson in Skiatook, Oklahoma, to check on his investment “specifically to see the oil leases” he was supposed to be buying. He played them and other investors.

Anderson swindled the Cash Money executives and hopped out of the oil business. He was sent to prison for 11 years for the scam. 

However, in 2020, Anderson went back to his old ways. He was recently arrested for running a three-year scam involving a hemp farm, which stole over $9 million from unsuspecting investors.

2023 BET Awards Draw 2.8 Million Total Viewers

BET held its annual award show on Sunday, June 25. With a celebration of 50 years of Hip Hop anchoring the program, the 2023 BET Awards nearly brought in 3 million television watchers.

According to a press release from the network, this year’s BET Award amassed 2.8 million total views across nine Paramount channels. Around 1.8 million viewers watch the ceremony on BET.

Mountain West insists San Diego State has left the conference, and it wants its exit fee

San Diego State informed the Mountain West it wanted to stay in the conference after all Friday, something the conference is now disputing

San Diego State may want to remain in the Mountain West after all, but the feeling apparently isn’t mutual.

The Mountain West insisted in a series of letters last week that SDSU formally announced it was leaving the conference and said it is going to withhold a $6.6 million payment as the first installation of an exit fee, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The move is the latest in what has been a chaotic few weeks for SDSU and the Mountain West. The university told the Mountain West last month that it “intends to resign” from the conference next summer. It did so before July 1, too, in order to cut an exit fee down from nearly $34 million to about $17 million.

But, despite those intentions to leave, SDSU apparently didn’t have any plans for where to go. The school also asked the Mountain West for an extension on the June 30 deadline, something the conference denied.

So on Friday before the deadline, SDSU informed the conference that it wasn’t going to withdraw after all.

But a day later, the Mountain West rejected that claim. According to the conference, SDSU has withdrawn formally and owes a nearly $17 million exit fee. So, “in connection with our receipt of the SDSU Notice of Resignation,” the Mountain West is withholding a more than $6.6 million payment that was due to the school this week as the first part of that exit fee.

Lionel Messi is "eager" to begin the next chapter of his career when he moves to Major League Soccer after a return to Barcelona did not materialise as he hoped.

Messi, 35, announced last week his decision to join Inter Miami CF once his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires on June 30 and said he is ready for the challenge that awaits him in the U.S.

"I'm well," he told Argentinian TV Publica. "Initially, we had a different idea [to return to Barcelona].

"We're happy with the decision we have taken. I'm ready and eager to face this new challenge, this change."

A 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina, Messi had offers to return to former club Barcelona as well as a possible move to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, but ultimately decided to join co-owner David Beckham's Inter Miami in MLS.

"[The decision] was an important step but at the same time, I was aware of what it meant, of what I was doing," Messi added. "We're happy."

Messi, who revealed this week he has no plans to play at the 2026 World Cup, is not slowing down.

The Argentina captain scored the fastest goal of his international career, netting after 79 seconds as the Albiceleste beat Australia 2-0 in a friendly on Thursday.

"If I'm being honest, had we not won the World Cup, I would no longer be playing for the national team," Messi said. "I can't leave the national team as a world champion. I want to enjoy this."

Reports about Jamie Foxx‘s health have been wide ranging, but the latest update speaks toward things moving in a really positive direction.

According to a TMZ report on Monday (May 15), the actor has been released from the hospital and entered what’s touted as one of the top physical rehabilitation centers in the country.

Both of his daughters Corinne Foxx and Anelise Foxx were pictured visiting him at the Chicago-based rehab center over Mother’s Day weekend – and they appeared to be in good spirits. There is still little information about what exactly happened to the beloved actor, but the facility he’s in reportedly specializes in stroke recovery, traumatic brain injury rehab, spinal cord injury rehab and cancer rehabilitation.

According to an insider, Jamie is “recovering well” and has been at the rehab center since late April following his hospital stint in Atlanta.

Ja Morant suspended from team activities after second video circulates showing him flash a gun

  

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has been suspended from team activities after an Instagram Live video appearing to show him flashing a gun while in a vehicle with others circulated on social media Sunday, just two months after the athlete was suspended over a similar video.

Morant is suspended from all team activities “pending League review,” the Grizzlies announced on Twitter, adding the team had no further comment.

Charlamagne called Lil Wayne out for being “corny” by abruptly ending his latest concert in Los Angeles. The Young Money rapper was upset with the audience for not being excited about his artists Lil Twist, Yaj Kader, and Allan Cubas.  LL COOL J TROLLS FANS WITH EXPLANATION FOR 'CANCELING' HIS NEW ALBUM

LL COOL J had presumably pumped the brakes on his upcoming album due to issues with the recording process, but now he’s given a more precise explanation of what happened.

The Queens rap legend took to his Twitter page on Wednesday (February 22) to announce that he would no longer drop his 14th studio album, stating that more work needed to be done on the album.

In a series of now deleted tweets, he revealed that he’s still “trying to figure this album out” and followed that up with a post that read, “just not feeling like this album is worthy of being released [facepalm emoji] I tried.”

He also added: “not dropping it.”

However, LL COOL J returned hours later to clarify that the project is still moving forward and tagged Q-Tip, who’s serving as executive producer. Mr. Smith also trolled fans with a boisterous reason behind the delay with the album.

“Okay so everyone’s been asking me about the new record and my decision and I was considering not putting the album out because IT’S TOO FUCKING GOOD,” LL said in the clip. “Q-Tip you a genius baby this my favorite album I ever made. I can’t wait for y’all to hear this. Tracklist coming soon.”

Nicki Minaj has announced that Queen Radio will return and promoted the moment by showcasing a new striped bikini.

In the candid thirst trap, the Pinkprint rapper can be seen lounging on an armchair while scrolling on her phone. She announced that Queen Radio would return on March 3.

Queen Radio initially launched on Beats 1 Radio in 2018 to promote her fourth studio album of the same name. Nicki announced she had left Apple Music in 2021 after fellow podcast host Joe Budden asked what was the status of Queen Radio during an episode of his beloved show.

According to Nicki, Global Creative Director of Apple Music, Larry Jackson gave his blessing for the rapper to explore new channels, and she announced last March that she’d be bringing the radio program to the Amazon app in an exclusive partnership.

BIG GIPP QUESTIONS DJ KHALED’S TALENT: ‘DON’T TELL ME YOU THE BEST’

Big Gipp has questioned whether DJ Khaled is actually as talented as people claim, while stating that the Miami-based producer is far from being “the best.”

The comments came in an interview with The Art Of Dialogue,where the Goodie Mob rapper said Khaled undoubtedly has talent, but that T-Pain deserves more praise.

“DJ Khaled is great at what he do,” Gipp said. “But I can turn around and look at a person that’s the real artist and that’s T-Pain. T-Pain really came through and really took it to another level. Song after song, hit after hit. Wrote, produce, singing, I just fuck with them type of artists, bro.”

CARDI B CLAIMS SHE GOT PAID $1M FOR 35-MINUTE PERFORMANCE

Cardi B has clapped back at a fan who mocked a recent private Art Basel performance by showing proof that she was paid $1 million for the brief appearance.

The since-deleted tweet came as a response to Twitter user @antoniiogang, who shared a short clip of Cardi’s performance, which took place at the Chase Sapphire Lounge on Friday (December 2), according to USA Today.

The clip was posted with a caption that read, “Not the Grammy winner performing in someone’s backyard.”

The “Money Bag” rapper responded with a screenshot of her contract with WP Touring, Inc., confirming the rate she had been paid for her appearance at the Miami art festival.

“I got payed 1 million dollars to perform at this elite bankers event private event for 400 people and only for 35 minutes,” Cardi tweeted along with the photo. “THINK ABOUT THAT WHEN YOU TYPE ABOUT THIS GRAMMY WINNER”

Brett Favre Requests Dismissal From Mississippi Welfare Lawsuit

Brett Favre is one of 38 defendants in a lawsuit brought by the Mississippi Department of Human Services alleging a serious misappropriation of welfare funds. The retired Hall of Fame quarterback is requesting to be dismissed from the lawsuit along with his Favre Enterprises business entity. 

ESPN reported that Brett Favre, 53, filed a motion on Monday (Nov. 28) asking a Mississippi judicial court to dismiss the lawsuit. According to the outlet, a portion of the motion read, “It is apparent that MDHS has sued Favre, a Mississippi and national celebrity, in an effort to deflect responsibility for its own egregious wrongdoing.”

The issue has dogged Favre for months after auditors in Mississippi found that a portion of the $77 million in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds originally slated to support nonprofits and assist the state’s poor were misdirected to the coffers of wealthy residents. The lawsuit was first announced on May 9 and is a civil matter. So far, six individuals have been arrested in connection to the case with five of them pleading guilty. Favre was among the named individuals in the lawsuit but does not face any legal charges.

“[MDHS]’s lawsuit is nothing more than a baseless attempt to blame Brett Favre for its own failure to oversee the welfare funds placed in its trust,” Favre’s lawyer, Eric Herschmann, said in a statement to ESPN. “Mr. Favre never had any control over how Mississippi spent its welfare funds. He never made any misrepresentations to anyone.”

As reported by the Associated Press, Favre has paid back $1.1 million in speaking fees that he received from the TANF-funded Mississippi Community Education Center. However, a state auditor found that Favre still owes $228,000 in back interest.

 TAKEOFF HONORED BY FRIENDS & FAMILY AT ATLANTA MEMORIAL SERVICE

TakeOff has been laid to rest following a celebration of life that saw Quavo and Offset delivering emotional addresses to a crowd of 21,000 mourners.

Despite the rain in Atlanta on Friday morning (November 11), fans began gathering outside State Farm Arena as early as 9 a.m. — three hours ahead of the ceremony’s scheduled start — where a giant photo of TakeOff took up the venue’s LED display.

According to Variety, the full capacity crowd inside included former collaborators and friends including Gucci Mane, Rich The Kid, City Girls, CeeLo Green, YG, Murda Beatz, Mustard, Lil Yachty, Teyana Taylor, Russell Simmons. Cardi B, TakeOff’s cousin by marriage was also photographed ahead of the memorial service.

Members of the Quality Control Music staff were also on hand to pay their respects, including the label’s CEO Pierre “P” Thomas, who shared a photo ahead of the ceremony along with the caption, “When You Lose Someone You Love, You Gain An Angel To Look Over You As Life Goes On. #LLTakeOff.”

T-PAIN REVEALS HE USED TO CHARGE ARTISTS CARS FOR SONGS: ‘I HAD ENOUGH MONEY’

T-Pain has revealed there was a point in his career when he stopped asking artists for money in exchange for features, instead he would ask them for cars.

The Florida rapper-singer made the revelation during a recent episode of his Nappy Boy Radio podcast featuring Taylor Bennett. Pain explained that he would make arrangements for a rare car that he couldn’t get his hands on from an artist and he’d hop in the booth to bang out a verse or hook on their song.

“I started charging n-ggas cars for songs,” T-Pain said. “It came to a point where I had enough money and rappers was like, ‘We need a hook.’ Hey, look, it’s a ’72 Impala that I want. I don’t even want a new car, bro, go get me a old school and I’ll do this hook for you tonight.”

T-Pain didn’t get into specifics of cars he ended up trading for his AutoTuned verses and melodic hooks, but he added a few whips to his fleet.

D.C. attorney general files lawsuit against Daniel Snyder, Washington Commanders, NFL, Roger Goodell

D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine on Thursday sued the Washington Commanders, team owner Dan Snyder, the National Football League, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for allegedly lying to D.C. fans about an investigation into workplace conduct and claims of sexual harassment, and doing so to protect the team and league’s image and ability to make money.

“You can’t lie to D.C. residents in order to protect your image and profits and get away with it,” said Racine at a press conference. “No one is above the law.”

The lawsuit stems from reporting by The Washington Post in 2020 on allegations of sexual harassment and a toxic workplace culture at the Washington Commanders. In the wake of the story, the team hired attorney Beth Wilkinson to conduct an investigation, which was later taken over by the NFL. The investigation’s findings, summarized publicly by the NFL in 2021, found that working conditions at the team had been “highly unprofessional” and that “numerous female employees reported having experienced sexual harassment and a general lack of respect in the workplace.”

The league said Snyder and the Commanders instituted new policies and hired new management, the NFL fined Snyder $10 million, and Snyder agreed to turn over day to day management of the team to his wife, Tanya Snyder. But an investigation by a House of Representatives committee later revealed that the NFL had given Snyder control over what information and documents from Wilkinson’s investigation could be publicly released, and also that Snyder had conducted a “shadow investigation” of accusers, former team employees, and journalists.

“This was all for show,” said Racine of the NFL’s investigation into workplace culture issues within the Commanders. “We were led to believe that Mr. Snyder would not interfere with the ‘independent’ investigation. He did. We were led to believe the public would not be left out of the process. We were. We were led to believe real change would happen. We’re still waiting. I ask, does any part of this investigation sound independent? Does any of this sound like accountability? Of course not. That’s why we’re suing.”

Racine’s lawsuit stems from D.C.’s broad Consumer Protection Act, which, among other provisions, prohibits businesses and merchants from lying to consumers. While the Commanders play in Maryland and are headquartered in Virginia, Racine said his civil lawsuit stems from the reality that many of the team’s paying fans are D.C. residents and that the team has marketed its links to the city, thus giving him standing to bring the legal action.

Racine, the city’s outgoing attorney general, is asking a D.C. judge to order the team, the league, and Snyder and Goodell to pay a fine of up to $5,000 for every misstatement made regarding the investigation. “That racks up pretty easy and exponentially,” he said. Racine is also seeking for Wilkinson’s full investigation to be released to the public.

In a statement, Commanders’ attorneys John Brownlee and Stuart Nash pledged to fight Racine’s lawsuit.

“Over two years ago, Dan and Tanya Snyder acknowledged that an unacceptable workplace culture had existed within their organization for several years and they have apologized many times for allowing that to happen. We agree with Racine on one thing: the public needs to know the truth. Although the lawsuit repeats a lot of innuendo, half-truths and lies, we welcome this opportunity to defend the organization — for the first time — in a court of law and to establish, once and for all, what is fact and what is fiction,” they said.

On Tuesday, the team preemptively released a statement accusing Racine of seeking “splashy headlines, based on offbeat legal theories, rather than doing the hard work of making the streets safe,” a reference to the August shooting in D.C. of rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr. The statement drew immediate criticisms, including from Robinson’s agent, prompting a separate statement from team president Jason Wright apologizing for the reference to the player’s shooting.

“It’s customary for bullies to try to bully victims… even public servants. I looked at that comment. It wasn’t surprising,” said Racine on Thursday about the team’s initial statement.

Racine’s lawsuit comes as Snyder and the Commanders remain under a harsh spotlight for workplace conduct issues as well as how the team is managed. Earlier this year, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares launched an investigation into allegations of financial impropriety under owner Snyder’s leadership — allegations first brought to light by the House committee’s probe into the franchise.

Snyder recently made headlines when he hired a bank to consider options for selling the team, in part or in whole. Since then the names of a number of possible buyers have emerged, from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to media mogul Byron Allen. Despite the team’s history in the Washington region, few elected officials have been willing to work with Snyder and the Commanders on possibly relocating and building a new stadium, in large part because of the scandals and controversies he has found himself in over the years.

Speaking as a longtime fan of the franchise, Racine said he was left little recourse but to act.

“I am repulsed by the conduct, the idea of intimidating victims, the idea of trying to scare them into backing down,” he said. “It’s outrageous and it calls on all of us to what we can to bring accountability.”
